Reproductive Laboratories at the heart of the Advanced fertility Center of Texas are directed by Dr. Dmitri Dozortsev. The laboratories are accredtited by College of American Pathologist and registered with FDA.
Dr. Dozortsev received his medical degree from the Pavlov’s Medical School in St. Petersburg, Russia in 1988. Straight from the medical school he enrolled into postgraduate training at the Department of Embryology, Institute of Experimental Medicine (where Pavlov studied conditional reflexes) in St. Petersburg, Russia, and later continued his training in the Reproductive Genetics Institute, at Illinois Masonic Medical Center in Chicago.
Dr. Dozortsev received his Ph.D. with highest honors from the University of Gent in Belgium in 1995 and served as a faculty at the Department of OB-GYN, Wayne State University from 1996 through 2004. He is board certified as a High Complexity Laboratory Director in Embryology and Andrology by the American Board of Bioanalysis.
Dr. Dmitri Dozortsev is credited with the discovery of the mechanism of ICSI, which revolutionized infertility treatment, during his Ph.D. studies in Belgium in 1993-95. His work has contributed greatly to the consitency of fertilization using this procedure.
Dr. Dozortsev's expertise encompasses almost 20 years in the field of human embryology. His fixation technique for preimplantation genetics diagnosis has been included by ESHRE in the “Best PGD Practice Guidelines”. He has more than 40 publications and several issued and pending patents. His research in analyzing human gametes prior to fertilization was featured in the number one scientific journal - “Nature”.
Dr. Dozortsev has consulted extensively in the United States and abroad and is serving as an ad-hock editor for Fertility and Sterility. Also, he is a president of American College of Embryology.
Dr. Dozortsev performs PGD diagnosis on-site for advanced reproductive age, to screen certain genetic diseases, and for gender selection. He introduced a concept of the Same Day PGDTM, which is currently only available at our clinic.
